FTC Is Cracking Down On False Reviews Of Products Online

Nature’s Bounty was hit with a $600,000 fine for “review hijacking” for its products on Amazon. The Federal Trade Commission said in a press release that the Bountiful Company deceived its consumers through reviews.
The FTC said the company deceived consumers into thinking that its newly introduced supplements had more product ratings and reviews. It also claimed the new products had higher average ratings, and #1 Best Seller’ and ‘Amazon Choice’ badges.
This is the first time the FTC has gone after a company for the alleged review hijacking. Along with the fine, they also prohibited the Bountiful Company from making similar deceptive reviews and misrepresentations of their products.
