Ford Explorer Recall Due To Risk Of Rollaway

Written by on May 2, 2022

There is a new recall for Ford Explorers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said a bolt in the rear axel of the SUV’s could fracture increasing the risk of the vehicle rolling away.

The recall is for various Explorer models from 2020-2022. This includes the Explorer Hybrid and the Explorer Plug-In Hybrid. The fractured bolt causes the driveshaft to disconnect allowing the vehicle to roll while parked.

Models also affected by the recall are the Explorer Police Interceptor SUV and hybrid models. Ford dealers will replace any necessary parts or update the software for the parking brake for free.

More than 250,000  vehicles have been recalled.
