Officer Steven Brongo, a four-year veteran of the Greece Police Department, recently faced one of his greatest fears during a rooftop rescue mission. Despite his fear of heights, Brongo responded to a call about a seven-year-old girl stuck on a steep roof. Arriving at the scene simultaneously with the Lake Shore Fire Department, Brongo and the team took immediate action to ensure the child’s safety. The girl had climbed out of a bathroom window, and first responders surrounded the house, ready for any eventuality.

Using one of her favorite toys, they spent 5-10 minutes coaxing her to come back inside. When she initially refused, Brongo and his colleagues decided to climb onto the roof themselves. Their efforts resulted in a safe rescue, highlighting their dedication and bravery.

Brongo’s journey to becoming a police officer is noteworthy. He spent 15 years as a Walgreens store manager before pursuing his lifelong dream of joining the police force at the age of 30. This successful rooftop rescue is a testament to his commitment to his new career.
