Father Suing Illinois Police Department After Cops Are Heard Joke About His Late Daughters Ashes Being Drugs

A man is suing the Springfield Illinois Police Department after officer said the man’s daughter’s ashes tested positive for drugs.
Back in 2020 Dartavius Barnes was pulled over by police for allegedly speeding. He gave police his consent to search his car for drugs which contained the ashes of his daughter who died two years earlier.
Police bodycam shows one of officers with the container of the little girl’s ashes and heard joking in the video with the other officers about pissing off mr. Barnes by testing his dead baby ashes.
The little girl died back in 2019 after her mother and mother’s boyfriend staraved of the little girl.
Mr. Barnes is suing the city for the actions of the officers.
