Family Receives Special Mother’s Day Gift as First Responders Help Deliver Baby

Yesterday morning, in celebration of Mother’s Day, Rochester firefighters and EMTs helped a woman in emergency labor deliver her baby on a beautiful Sunday morning. The woman was quick to call the fire department over to Spencer Street as she was in advanced labor. Fortunately, the father was able to make it for the birthing. Emergency crews stated that they are used to this type of emergency, but something about it being Mother’s Day had made it extra special for them.

Lt. Alicia Miller commented on this, saying; “It’s unusual either in the home or in a neighborhood. Most women would like to make it to the hospital, unfortunately sometimes that doesn’t happen for them. We are equipped to assist with the ambulances to make that happen for them.”
