Fake COVID-19 Vaccine Cards On The Rise

As more businesses start to require proof of the covid-19 vaccine, the creation of fake covid-19 cards is on the rise, and easier to get than you would think. If you give it a quick online search, you would find profiles offering fake COVID-19 vaccine cards for purchase and all you need to give them is your name, where you live, and date of birth. On Instagram, one profile says $25 per card. Another profile’s biography says “Contact us for your COVID19 vaccination cards without taking the vaccine.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James commented on this issue, warning New Yorkers about fake vaccination cards; “Not only do fake and fraudulently-completed vaccination cards violate federal and state laws and the public trust, but they also put the health of our communities at risk and potentially prolong this public health crisis. I strongly urge New Yorkers to reject these fake vaccination cards and get the COVID-19 vaccine, so that we can move forward from this pandemic and return to normalcy as soon as possible.”

Anyone who participates in falsifying vaccine cards and records, as well as the unauthorized use of the CDC, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ seals, also violate various federal and New York state laws and is subject to civil and criminal enforcement.
