Facebook Collects Call Logs And Texts On Android Phones

Written by on March 26, 2018

If you have an Android phone and you put Facebook and/or Facebook Messenger on your phone they have been collecting your calls and text history.
Now a few years ago we had a discussion on the Wake Up Club about adding Facebook Messenger because of all the data Facebook was going to collect in your phone, about your phone, about how you use your phone, and your contacts once you sign up.
Well it looks like what they said they would do in the fine print is exactly what they did if you clicked on the opt-in on your Android phone.
So not only did Facebook allow Cambridge Analytica to collect steal data from it’s users to build profiles of American voters that helped get Donald Trump elected as our President, they also have years worth of call logs and texts.
It’s official now the Federal Trade Commission confirmed that Facebook is now under investigation.
Here is the full statement released by the FTC:
The FTC is firmly and fully committed to using all of its tools to protect the privacy of consumers. Foremost among these tools is enforcement action against companies that fail to honor their privacy promises, including to comply with Privacy Shield, or that engage in unfair acts that cause substantial injury to consumers in violation of the FTC Act. Companies who have settled previous FTC actions must also comply with FTC order provisions imposing privacy and data security requirements. Accordingly, the FTC takes very seriously recent press reports raising substantial concerns about the privacy practices of Facebook. Today, the FTC is confirming that it has an open non-public investigation into these practices.
Will you delete Facebook?
