EPA Will Not Regulate A Chemical In Drinking Water That Causes I.Q. Damage In Newborns

Written by on May 15, 2020

As if things couldn’t get any scarier in this country under the current administration. Have you ever heard of a chemical called perchlorate?

The Environmental Protection Agency has and they are not going to regulate the chemical in drinking water. Perchlorate can cause damage to the central nervous system in infants.

Also, pregnant women are at greatest risk for their fetus and newborn having adverse health affects. It also causes hormone disruption affecting the thyroid gland.

Even though the chemical can be naturally occurring in the atmosphere, it could be a industrial chemical too. It is in explosives, rocket propellant, fireworks, and road flares.

The EPA told CNN they have not yet made a final decision. Meanwhile, high concentrations of perchlorate have been found in the water supply across the country, seven states to be exact including New York.

There is no national drinking water standard for the chemical.
