Environmental cost of fashion and beauty industries

Written by on August 13, 2020

We need to pay more attention to where the products we buy come from, who is making them and how that company is participating globally. Because everything on this planet is connected. For example the pesticides used on cotton fields negatively contribute to the decline in pollinator health, which is harming biodiversity and our food systems. The fashion and cosmetic industries have long been known for exploiting environments and workers. On the bright side, a few companies are rising above the rest as they implement more environmentally friendly and sustainable supply chains.

Natura & Co, the Brazilian beauty company who own Avon, Body shop and Aesop is one example of a company working to protect biodiversity in the Amazon, and stop contributing to deforestation.
