DMV OK’s Road Test, But Not 5-Hour Pre Licensing Course
Written by Site Hub on July 26, 2020
For the first time since the pandemic, road tests are being offered again by the DMV. Unfortunately, the 5 hour course that is required to take the test, isn’t.
The 5-hour class educates students with the knowledge they will need to know as a new driver. Things like driving on the highway, good driving habits, risk taking and the dangers of driving under the influence are covered.
While the manuals are still available, the DMV hasn’t caught up to the education system in terms of distance learning. Many teens and new drivers are unable to take the course, so even though the road tests are available they aren’t qualified to take them.
The DMV website has a section on their website that addresses this concern. Under the headline, “Can I take the Pre-Licensing Course Online?” It reads:
“The ‘Pre-Licensing Course Internet Pilot Program’ is not yet available to the public. DMV is currently accepting applications from course providers interested in providing an online course. More information will be forthcoming, so please continue to check back.”
This is an ongoing story.
