Across the country, mask mandates are making a comeback in places like Los Angeles and Massachusetts in an effort to keep the COVID-19 Delta Variant surge at bay. According to Governor Cuomo’s office, nearly 60 percent of New York State has had at least one dose of the vaccine. Over at Rochester’s R-Center on Flint Street say they are seeing more traffic as concerns over the Delta variant grow.

Dr. Linda Clark, chief medical officer of Commonground Health, stated: “I think we’re getting a lot more people who are asking questions about where to get vaccinated. I anticipate a lot of the sites today are going to be busier. I’m concerned as well. This particular variant is very, very infectious, much more so than the first one we saw. When the first variant came out, one person could infect a few people. This one can infect 8 or 9. It’s extremely infectious and can cause severe consequences in people who have not been vaccinated yet.”
