Death Valley gets highest temperature since 1913

According to the report, the temperature was taken at Furnace Creek near the Visitors Center yesterday, Sunday, using a National Weather Service-owned automated observation system. It seems reasonable to interpret that as, someone noticed a thermometer read 130 degrees. Since that is so insanely high, apparently you need a “formal review” to verify and confirm that. The last incident in 1913 was on July 10th, and scientists have said that that temperature wasn’t possible.
