January 6, 2021 will go down in history as the day the Capital was breached and democracy was halted.
After telling far-right groups to “Stand Back and Stand By”, President Trump invited his supporters to gather in Washington D.C. on Wednesday to “March for Trump” and protest the election results.
Thousands of his supporters made their way to Capital Hill to disrupt the Congressional session in progress and insist that the Presidency was being stolen from Trump. As members of the House and Senate counted the electoral votes, the protesters breached the building and stormed the chambers.
Meet Thomas, a Trump supporter from New Jersey. He was with the group of protestors that were shot at inside the Capital.
He tells WUSA-TV that he was not injured, but got blood on his hand after catching the young lady who was shot by Riot Police. She later died at the hospital.
Tom was lucky. Despite admitting to breaking into a federal building and halting the electoral process, Tom was not arrested. He was not detained. He was simply escorted out of the building and proceeded to tell his story of patriotism on live local news.
This is what White Privilege looks like.
