Dr. Alice Hoagland, Director of the Insomnia Clinic at Rochester Regional Sleep Disorder Center, explains that the end of daylight saving time often causes younger kids to wake up earlier than usual and feel tired before bedtime. This adjustment can feel like mild jet lag and typically takes two to three days for most children to settle into a regular schedule. To ease the transition, doctors recommend gradually shifting bedtimes later, ensuring a dark, quiet sleep environment, and exposing kids to natural light in the morning.
