Crumbling Cadillac Hotel building forces Rochester road closure
Written by Site Hub on April 25, 2024
The City of Rochester has closed a section of Elm Street downtown due to safety concerns arising from the deteriorating condition of the former Cadillac Hotel and the adjacent Richford building. Loose materials on the buildings’ exteriors pose a threat to motorists and pedestrians. The closure spans from Atlas Street to Chestnut Street, including the southbound sidewalk and parking lane along Chestnut Street. Property owners must address the hazards promptly and provide a licensed engineer’s report confirming mitigation. Further updates on the building’s status will be provided during a city briefing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
