Crews Demolish Remains of Florida Condo As Storm Nears, Search on Pause

Late last night, crews used explosives to demolish the remains of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Fl. This had caused the tower to fold and crumble, sending dust and debris over a section of the beachside community, where local community members were encouraged by Miami-Dade County to stay indoors during this time. According to Miami-Dade County officials, removing the tower was an essential step for the search and rescue teams to continue looking through the rubble pile for victims of this tragic disaster. Currently, the number of confirmed dead remains at 24, and the number of people unaccounted for is 121.
