I specifically recall during my middle and high school days the dress code policy was strongly enforced. Your skirts or shorts could not be shorter than the length of your fingertips when standing straight with your hands to your side. This is how I noticed that my fingers were longer than normal.

However unfair, the restrictions made things “appropriate”, and this is what Erykah Badu attempted to express before being chewed up by twitter followers.

With a series of tweets Badu advised high school girls to wear more class friendly clothing, “so male teachers are not distracted.” Ha! The new generation wasn’t here for Badu’s advice. They quickly began to shift the blame claiming that male teachers shouldn’t be in that profession if they are easily tempted. C’mon really!? We live in a society where sex and temptation prevails regardless of the profession; these men are human.

Tweeters even went as far as stating that Muslim women are still being raped although they are covered from head to toe. But we know that “Ms. Badu always comin’ forreal you know the deal.” She later responded with the series of tweets below.

Should schools consider Badu’s advice?
