City Of Rochester Mayor Malik Evans Declares State Of Emergency Due To Gun Violence
Written by Andre on July 21, 2022
City of Rochester Mayor Malik Evans has declared a State of Emergency due to gun violence on Thursday.
The proclamation comes after five people were shot in two separate shootings earlier this week. The shootings were within hours of each other and resulted in Rochester’s 40th and 41st homicides of 2022. Both shootings took place in the same area on North Clinton Avenue.
Mayor Evans said in a press conference Thursday, “The city and our partners in government will dedicate all possible resources to bring an immediate end to this violence and prevent it from expanding further.”
The mayor also asked federal, state, and local partners for more resources to actively attack the crisis from all angles.
