Cinco de Mayo

The age of “The big lie” history facts even are changing.  Cinco de Mayo is NOT the Mexican Independence Day – that’s on September 16th.  Cinco de Mayo! has become a day in the United States that some say is to celebrate Mexican American culture.

This Mexican holiday (May 5th = Cinco de Mayo) dates back to 1862 when a small Mexican force managed to defeat a much larger and better-armed French force during the Battle of Pueblo.

This was a huge victory – it significantly delayed the French invasion of Mexico, allowing the Mexicans to eventually repel them completely. Historians argue it may have even changed the outcome of the American Civil War!

History nerd on loose LOL
