Child care assistance portal available in New York State

Written by on July 26, 2024

New York State has launched a new online portal to help families access affordable child care. Governor Kathy Hochul introduced the portal to address the state’s child care crisis, making it easier for families to apply for assistance and find suitable providers. The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) covers 90% of child care costs for families earning up to 85% of the state’s median income. For example, a family of four with an annual income of $108,000 could pay as little as $15 per week for child care.

The new portal simplifies the application process, allowing families to check eligibility, apply for assistance, and locate providers online, eliminating the need for extensive paperwork. The portal is now available statewide following a successful pilot program in New York City and Schenectady County. For more information, visit the official portal.
