Over the weekend there was a live video that went viral on social media of a large house party. The house party with over a hundred people happened in a Chicago, Illinois.

Chicago police issued the owner of the townhouse where the party took place citations and put her on notice. The homeowner said her son was responsible for throwing the party. According to reports, the son disarmed the video camera on the door bell because he did not want to alert his mother of the activity at the townhouse.

The owner of the building told authorities she was not aware of the party. The son threw the party to honor someone who recently lost their life by violence.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot addressed the video saying “What happened in that scene was just foolish and reckless. There’s got to be a level of personal responsibility for that. Millenials aren’t children. Millenials—many of `em—are in their 20’s. They’re fully functioning adults. And we expect adults to act responsibly—particularly at a time of pandemic.”

The Chicago Mayor also said the people in the video will ultimately be held responsible.

The Governor of Chicago said if people continue to violate stay at home orders the police have the ability to charge them with reckless conduct, but he does not want it to come to that.

In this case should the parent be held accountable for the actions of their child even though the child is an adult?
