When we ask for info sheets so we can sound intelligent on a remote air breaks we usually don’t post. But when I saw these stats, I though of the old term the big C and the horrible numbers listed. Got worse when I checked and verified. Wow!
Here are some of the stats that I would like shared on air to tie into the cancer organization coming on site.

- Breast cancer is the number one cancer found in women
- African American women are 42% more likely to die from breast cancer then white women
- Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Hispanic/Latina women.
- Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related death for men and women combined
- Colorectal and Cervical cancers are among the most preventable cancers
- Hispanics have the highest cervical cancer rates of all ethnic groups in the US
- Monroe County ranks first for all new diagnoses of breast cancer in New York State
- Smoking causes 40% of all cancers
