Canadian Border Crossing Now More Difficult If You've Been Convicted Of DUI or DWI

Written by on December 20, 2018

Just a heads up if you’re heading to Canada over the holiday’s or even after you need to know they changed the laws for DUI and DWI convictions as of December 18th.
The reason for the change is the recent legalization of marijuana in Canada.
In the past if you were convicted of a DWI or DUI you were banned from Canada for 10 years then after the 10 years they would consider you rehabilitated and allowed to cross the boarder.
As of December 18 is you are convicted of a DUI or DWI you will not be allowed into Canada unless you get a special pass which will run you anywhere from $200 to $1000 but you still have to wait 5 years before you can apply.
If you have a record of any kind you might not want to even try to cross the Canadian border. It’s not goin to happen.
