CalWood Wildfires Rip Across Boulder County, Colorado

Written by on October 19, 2020

A wildfire in Colorado has blown through more than 8,700 acres in less than 24hrs on Sunday.

The fire forced almost 3,000 people to evacuate their homes in Boulder County and there is no word on when they will be able to return.

The CalWood Fire started burning on about 50 miles southeast of the Cameron Peak Fire, which is the largest in the state’s history, burning more than 317 square miles since mid-august.

Mike Wagener, division chief of the Boulder County’s Sheriffs office gave a statement regarding the CalWood Fire:

“It just exploded. We do believe multiple homes were probably lost. It’s still too dynamic to get in and begin to assess.”
