Calls For Stricter Penalties And More Federal Air Marshals On Flights After Uptick Of Unruly Passengers

Written by on June 1, 2021

Since people can not seem to be on their best behavior on airplanes the Federal Government is stepping in. The Federal Aviation Administration said it has been keeping track of violent incidents since last year. The reason the FAA said its tracking incidents are because there has been an uptick in reports of unruly behavior.

Passengers not wanting to wear a mask has been the main culprit of the incidents. Out of 2,500 reports of unruly passengers about 1,900 were people who did not want to follow the federal mask mandate on flights. Because passengers can not seem to behave a couple of airlines have will continue to not sell alcohol on flights.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, a Flight Attendant was assaulted by a passenger and lost two teeth. The 28-year-old passenger refused to follow in-flight instructions and became violent. The incident was caught on video and the passenger was charged with battery causing injury.

As a result of the poor behavior of passengers lately, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement “we will not tolerate behavior that violates the law”.

Fines could be as high as $15,000 or a lifetime ban from flying for yelling at and assaulting Flight Attendants.

Have you been on a flight where a passenger refused to put on a mask or became unruly? If so share your story by texting or calling and leave a voice message at 678-1039.

Also, do you think people should be banned from flying for life if they assault a Flight Attendant or other passenger?
