Biden Administration Caps Internet Costs for Low Income Families

Written by on May 9, 2022

Early this morning, the Biden Administration announced their plans to partner with internet providers to lower the cost of high-speed internet plans for low-income Americans. About 48 million Americans will qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program, which will provide plans of at least 100 Megabits per second of speed for no more than $30. The White House stated: “High-speed internet service is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity. But too many families go without high-speed internet because of the cost or have to cut back on other essentials to make their monthly internet service payments.”

In order to check if someone qualifies, one will soon be able to visit www.getinternet.gov to determine their eligibility and sign up for the program.
