Astronauts at the ISS recently tweeted a picture of the great lakes region where Rochester is clearly visible.
Doug Hurley, an astronaut part of the recent mission where NASA crew members used a SpaceX ship to launch from U.S. soil tweeted a picture and commented:
“I stayed up late last night to spend some time looking out the window. It was a beautiful day to see the Great Lakes and my childhood home in upstate New York.”
In the photo, you can make out Rochester’s location by looking for the small v-shaped notch in Lake Ontario, to the left of a group of clouds on the “right” side of the lake from the angle of the photo. If you look closely enough, you can even make out the Genesee River, as well as the Finger Lakes up and to the right.
