Earlier this week, Minneapolis police fatally shot 22-year-old Amir Locke, after the police burst into his apartment to serve a no-knock warrant. Now, the body cam footage is under review as Locke was peacefully asleep on his couch when the wrongful shot was taken. The footage shows Locke holding his registered gun, however, the authorities and Locke’s attorneys agree that Amir Locke was not the ‘subject of the warrant that police were attempting to execute.’
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison stated: “Amir Locke’s life mattered. He was only 22 years old and had his whole life ahead of him.” According to the Hennepin County medical examiner, Locke died from “multiple gunshot wounds and manner of death is homicide.”
