American Greetings "Baby Daddy" Father's Day Card
Written by Andre on June 15, 2018
Would you buy a Father’s Day card that say’s “Baby Daddy” for the father in your life?
Target is under fire for selling a Father’s Day card by American Greetings that say “Baby Daddy” on the front of the card featuring a couple that is clearly African-American.
The producer of the card is American Greetings which is one of the worlds largest seller of greeting cards. This particular card sold about 5,300 nationwide.
American Greetings, however, did apologize saying the “missed the mark” at an attempt to be “playful” and they have pulled the cards from retail stores across the U.S.
Thank you for raising this concern and bringing it to our attention. This card was intended to be a playful husband card, but we have notified the product team that it missed the mark. Please accept our sincerest apologies and know we will do better in the future.

My thought on this is I don’t feel Target should of been the company people went after initially because they didn’t do anything wrong by putting the cards on the shelves.
As far as American Greetings, if they wouldn’t of had the black couple on the front of the card it would not be an issue because the term “Baby Daddy” is used universally.
