Written by on March 7, 2024

The cast of beloved sitcom “A Different World,” which highlighted the Black college experience during its run in the 80s and 90s, has reunited for a 10-city HBCU tour. Starting on February 29 at the Atlanta University Center, this initiative aims to promote enrollment and raise scholarship funds for historically Black colleges and universities. Key cast members like Darryl M. Bell, Charnele Brown, Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Cree Summer, Glynn Turman, and comedian Sinbad, along with producers Susan Fales and Debbie Allen, are participating. The tour, which has already planned stops in Washington, DC and Montgomery, Alabama, seeks to leverage the cultural significance of “A Different World” to inspire future generations to consider HBCUs for their higher education. The mission of the tour extends beyond mere nostalgia, aiming to enhance awareness and support for these institutions, thereby shaping a new narrative for HBCU enrollment and success.
