Sales Tax on Clothes Eliminated in Monroe County

Now you can clothes shop sale tax free in Monroe County! Tuesday night, Monroe County Legislature passed sales tax and property tax relief plans during a meeting. This new plan is estimated to save Monroe County shoppers about $12 million each year and encourage people to shop locally.

County Executive Adam Bello announced this yesterday, stating; “It’s important to act now, as our families are struggling with record inflation and as we see prices continue to increase. Clothing is essential as food. Families, especially those with young children, are particularly hard hit. Our residents need relief from the high costs of basic necessities like clothing, shoes, eyeglasses, coats, hats.”
