Bipartisan Bill Seeks to Mitigate Gun Violence

A precarious balance has been reached in a proposed bill to mitigate gun violence in the United States. This bipartisan effort was led by party leaders Chuck Schumer, D-NY and Mitch McConnell, R-KY. Senate representatives who worked on the bill are calling it a balance between common sense gun laws while not infringing on second amendment rights. A major focus of the bill to the expansion of background checks, longer wait periods, as well as the addition of barring anyone convicted of domestic violence from owning a firearm.
