Gov. Hochul Wants to Raise the Firearm Purchasers Age to 21

Yesterday in East Greenbush during an Interstate Task Force on Illegal Guns meeting, Governor Kathy Hochul spoke out on her plans to raise the firearm age in New York. This news follows after the tragic shooting in Texas. Gov. Hochul called on State Police to check on school districts every day until the end of the school year.
In other news, Gov. Hochul plans to plans to work with the legislature to change the age of purchase to 21, stating: “How does an 18-year-old purchase an AR-15 in the state of New York?” In addition to the age raise, Gov Hochul also plans to pass a bill to get more help with information sharing and reporting illegal guns, and gun tracing.
