RCSD Students Use Their Voice to Improve School Culture

All over Northeast College Prep, students make sure their voices are heard. From the words of wisdom painted on bathroom stalls, to the design of an outdoor classroom, students are working to improve school culture – one project at a time. Most recently, a program was introduced that allows them to make decisions as stakeholders, hoping to give them a sense of empowerment.
Nakia Burrows, Northeast College Prep principal, stated: “They have more buy-in in being students because they feel like they are part of a change…That curriculum is helping to refine what they already know, but fine-tune their skills so that they can be more effective and productive.”
