At-Home Covid Tests Now Available

Written by on December 8, 2021

After a long wait of COVID tests being available, as well as being in the midst of a state of emergency and a surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, prevention is key in stopping the spread of the virus over the holidays. In order to help stop the spread, Monroe County has purchased 750,000 at-home rapid COVID-19 testing kits, each kit containing two tests. According to Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, 250,000 rapid tests will be set aside for school-aged children and the other 500,000 will go to local towns, villages, and the City of Rochester.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello stated: “We’re working with municipal partners and so everyone is going to have a different plan on how they distribute these. So, it’ll be done by the municipalities and the school districts. It was decided based on the supply that we had how many they needed and how many they could get out.”
