Rochester’s Next Mayor, Malik Evans

Malik Evans is set to take on the biggest role thus far, as he will be sworn in as Rochester’s mayor on January 1st. Yesterday while voting, Evans spoke on the future of Rochester: “We are at a point in our community that we are in a state of emergency as it relates to violence. Not just shootings and people have died, but the hundreds of shootings that have killed people. This is absolutely unbelievable and inconceivable, and we are at a point now where it’s become almost normalized. We have to do something and it can’t be idle chatter and forums and continuous conversation. We really need to zero in on it. Not like a hammer, but we need to take a scalpel to target those individuals that seek to disrupt and destroy our community through violent behavior.”
