Written by Site Hub on August 19, 2021
Yesterday, the Rochester City School District employees were informed that they must be vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID testing, making the RSCD the first local district to require this policy. Employees who don’t submit to testing will not be allowed to return to work and will be placed on unpaid leave and testing must be conducted outside of work hours and can be completed at any local Walgreens for free.
According to Christopher Miller, the district’s chief of human capital, about 75 percent of the entire staff is vaccinated. Miller stated; “We want to ensure that as many of our staff are vaccinated as possible so we want to encourage all staff to be vaccinated…We’re requiring all of our staff who work in the school district, including those vendors, consultants, contractors who work in our schools be tested weekly unless they’re vaccinated. Substitutes, partners from community-based organizations, anyone who is working in our schools will be required to test weekly otherwise show proof of vaccination.”
