Metropolitan Areas In America Have Become More Segragated Racially Since 1990

A new study shows large metropolitan areas are more segregated now than they were in the 1990s. About 81% of areas with more than 200,000 residents showed they were more segregated even with equal housing laws in place. These segregated areas continue to increase and have led to poorer outcomes for Black people.

According to the report, Chicago, New York, Detroit, New Jersey, and Philadelphia are the areas that have the most segregation. Black and Brown people have lower income, poor education, and the lowest home values in these regions. Areas that are predominantly white see higher home values, better education, and more opportunities.

There are fewer disparities for Black people in regions that are integrated according to the study however, home values are still lower. This study shows what we already know in America we have a problem with systemic racism.

Some people will deny it but clearly, it is real and is a thing. An example, just look at some of the deeds to these older homes in America you may find restrictive covenants. The restrictive deed would say no person of negro blood shall occupy this land, building, or lot. We cannot continue to deny systemic racism or racism period.
