‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ Release Date Pushed Back Again

Written by on December 23, 2020

The release date for “Judas and the Black Messiah” has just been pushed back by Warner Bros. for the third time.

The biopic is based on the life events and assassination of Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton. The movie is directed by Shaka King and written by King and Will Berson. Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback and Martin Sheen are also starring in the film.

The film is produced by Ryan Coogler, who also produced Marvel’s Black Panther. He commented on the premise of the movie, saying:

“Chairman Fred Hampton is somebody whose life work, and the story of his assassination, has been relevant since the day [it] happened and only continues to become more relevant with context,” Coogler said. “But I also think that Shaka’s point of view, and how he wanted to tell the story, was also something that’s extremely relevant, as well.”

The release schedule will be following the new hybrid model that Warner Bros is following: during the first month it’s in theaters, the movie will also stream on HBO Max.
