Hobby Lobby Raises Minimum Full Time Wage To $17/Hr

Written by on September 15, 2020

Starting on October 1st, Hobby Lobby is raising its minimum full time wage to $17 an hour.

The announcement came in the form of a press release, about a week after a consumer boycott took place when a viral photo of a display with letters saying “Vote Trump” and the caption “in hobby lobby.”

The chain has been leading the charge when it comes to raising the minimum wage for its workers. Over the past 11 years, they have raised their minimum wage 10 times – regardless of the minimum wage of whatever state they are in. In 2014, they raised their minimum wage to $15, way before it was “fashionable to do so.”

Hobby Lobby founder and CEO David Green said in the release:

“We have always worked hard to be a retail leader when it comes to taking care of our people. From closing our stores on Sundays and at 8 p.m. the rest of the week, to providing some of the best pay and benefits in the retail industry, we are thankful that we are able to share our success with our valued employees and provide time for rest, family and worship.”
