District Attorney Paul Howard of Fulton County has issued warrants for the arrest of the police officers involved in the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks.

A felony murder charge has been put on Garrett Rolfe, the individual who actually fired the shots that fatally wounded Brooks. He is also being charged with 11 other instances of misconduct, including: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage and multiple violations of office.

Rolfe also faces life without parole or the death penalty if he is proven guilty in a court of law.

Devin Brosnan, the other officer at the scene, has been paced on administrative leave and also faces charges of aggravated assault.

Howard explained at a press conference that Rolfe violated protocol multiple times. He didn’t not announce that Brooks was under arrest for DUI before he tried to make the arrest. Atlanta police officers are also not allowed to fire their guns or their tasers at fleeing suspects unless they pose a threat to the officers. He also said that an officer is supposed to provide medical assistance to the victim. Neither officer did this.
