Tariq’s 5 Takeaways From Thursday Night’s 2020 NFL Draft
Written by Tariq on April 24, 2020
The NFL started off the 2020 draft the right way acknowledging the healthcare workers and families affected by COVID-19 and Dr. Anthony Fauci with a special message. All before the Cincinnati Bengals made the first pick in the draft (Joe Burrow QB LSU). Which brings me to the 5 takeaways from Thursday Night’s NFL Draft.
5- No Fans
Understanding the current situation of COVID-19 having fans video conferencing in during the draft just was not the same. No instant reaction for football fans as to whether they are excited or disappointed. Just can’t duplicate that online.
4- Green Bay
The surprise of the night was the Green Bay Packers. They trading up to go get QB Jordan Love From Utah St., with the 26th Pick overall. Especially since they have a great QB Aaron Rodgers and needed Wide Receivers, which this draft class had tons of them.
3- Picks Faster?
Is it just me, or did the NFL draft move a little bit faster this year? Not a lot of one on one interviews, a quick feature on the player drafted, and on to the next team’s pick.
QB’s Lead The Draft Again
2- It doesn’t matter if a quarterback has question marks. Arm strength, Conference they played in or whether or not they’re injured. NFL teams want Quarterbacks. 3 of the first 6 Picks in this years Draft were QBs.
1- It doesn’t matter where the moment is, seeing these young men get emotional with their families is always amazing. To get the call from your Coach after being drafted into the NFL is always great to watch. Wearing a $1000 suit, or a bathrobe the emotions are real.
It wasn’t a perfect NFL Draft, but it was this year based on the circumstances were dealing with. I’m just hoping we can watch football this fall.
