DJ Sight Visits St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital

Written by on January 27, 2020

My weekend was a uplifting and emotional weekend all at the same time. I had the honor to visit and be able to have tour around  St Jude’s children’s research hospital in Memphis Tennessee.

You hear stories all the time about Americans being in debt because of not having health care because it’s just too expensive. St Jude’s is a research hospital That care for kids that’s dealing Illnesses and families do not receive one bill everything is covered.
A little back history about St Jude’s children’s research hospital. It was founded by entainer Danny Thomas back in 1962 with the vision that no child should be denied treatment. The research hospital treats children with Acute Lymphoma leukemia and other catastrophic illnesses.
Hearing stories about people living with catastrophic illnesses versus seeing them up close and personal is a totally different ball game. Listening to stories from former patients that survived treatment, currently receiving treatment and stories from a parent who lost a child people all brought tears to my eyes. I already know and never take my health for granted but this experience made me appreciate life even more.
My personal connection and interest about St Jude’s is because I can relate to the parents.  Me being a parent with a child living with sickle cell can be a emotional rollercoaster because anything can happen at anytime. We’ve been blessed that my son has been healthy and never (knock on wood) had to be hospitalized for his sickle cell.
All I can say is this was a great experience to be able to learn more about St Jude’s Children’s Research hospital.
