Delphi Technologies, a designer and manufacturer of integrated powertrain technologies that optimize engine performance, announced a company restructuring plan that will close 9 of its 23 engineering centers, including one located in Henrietta.

Delphi Technology C.E.O. Rick Dauch told News10NBC, “What we told the team today is the Rochester Technology Center will be closing in December 2020. So we’re giving the people as much time as we can so they can make the personal decisions if they want to stay with Delphi and consider a job somewhere else in the company or look for other opportunities in the local area.”

By the end of next year, a total of 235 Delphi Technology employees will have to find a new place of employment or relocate with the company. The issue stems from changes within the automotive industry. Much of the area research focuses on Diesel engines, completely opposite of the gasoline trend.

Dauch goes on to say, “Other than when somebody gets hurt these are the worst days as the leader of a company…”
