A man in France is offering to share a €500,000 ($523,000) lottery prize with the thieves who used his stolen bank card to buy the winning ticket. Identified as Jean-David E., the victim of the theft discovered that his card had been used at a local shop in Toulouse to purchase the scratch-off ticket. Witnesses said two apparently homeless men bought the ticket, celebrated wildly, and left behind some of their belongings.
Jean-David, who reported the theft to the police, is now appealing to the thieves to come forward, offering to withdraw his complaint and split the winnings with them. However, the French lottery operator, La Française des Jeux (FDJ), has stated that no one has claimed the prize yet. Legal experts warn that authorities may seize the winnings, as they were obtained using a stolen card.
Jean-David’s lawyer has made a public appeal for the thieves to step forward, emphasizing that time is running out before the ticket expires.
