The Rochester community has rallied around a local mother of seven whose holiday gifts and car were stolen just days before her scheduled kidney surgery. The mother, described as dedicated to her children—who excel in school, sports, and college—has faced significant challenges, including complications from her surgery that have kept her in intensive care, likely through Christmas.
Local residents and businesses quickly stepped in to replace the stolen gifts, ensuring the children still have a joyful holiday. Community members shopped, wrapped, and labeled gifts with care, while businesses like Tracy Door and fitness organizations contributed generously.
Karen Iglesia, a local advocate and owner of Primetime 585, highlighted the broader impact of the theft, emphasizing the financial and logistical strain on the family, including the challenge of navigating appointments and supporting the children’s activities without a vehicle. She encouraged continued support, noting that while the gifts were a tremendous help, more assistance is needed for the family’s recovery.
Donations can be made through Venmo at PT585 or by mailing items to Primetime585, P.O. Box 632, Penfield, NY 14526, with “gifts” included in the memo. The community’s efforts have provided hope during a difficult time, but ongoing help remains vital.
