Cover-Up In Ex-Greece Police Chief’s DWAI Crash, DA Claims It’s Possible

Written by on November 26, 2024

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley testified that she believes there may have been a cover-up in the 2021 drunk driving crash of former Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe. A lawsuit was previously filed by former Greece Deputy Police Chief Casey Voelkl, who claims he was demoted after asking the DA’s office to investigate the crash. A transcript of a Nov. 7 deposition this year shows Doorley said believes the officers who responded to Forsythe’s crash Oct. 21, 2021 were more concerned with “protecting one of their own” than investigating what led up to the incident. Forsythe called officers to the scene and told them he crashed his department-issued SUV after swerving to hit a deer. No field sobriety tests were performed. Three days later, Forsythe resigned and later pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired (DWAI).
