One person died and 12 others were rescued after being trapped for about six hours in the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine in Colorado when an elevator malfunctioned. The incident occurred about 500 feet below the surface as the elevator was descending at the tourist site near Cripple Creek. The cause of the visitor’s death has not yet been released. The 12 trapped adults, located about 1,000 feet underground, had access to water and communicated with authorities using radios.
