A student at Palmyra-Macedon High School was arrested on Thursday for allegedly making a threat about a school shooting. The incident began when the student reported finding a handwritten note containing a specific threat aimed at the school district for a date the following week. Upon investigation, authorities determined that the same student had written the note himself, admitting he did so in hopes of getting a day off from school. The student, who is under 18, was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony offense. School officials emphasized that no students were ever in actual danger and that the threat was unfounded. John Colella, the school’s Director of Safety, acknowledged heightened anxiety among the community due to similar threats circulating nationwide on social media. Authorities urged students and parents to report any concerning information directly to law enforcement rather than sharing it online, reaffirming that schools remain one of the safest places outside the home.
