RCSD Grad Makes History As Youngest School Board Member

19 year old Isaiah Santiago, a Rochester City School District graduate, was elected on Tuesday night as one of the new commissioners joining the Rochester City School District Board of Education in January. Santiago has made history as the youngest member ever to join the board.

Santiago stated: “I have direct experience of what’s going on in the system of the Rochester City School District and even as a one-year graduate, I also see many disparities that people in my graduating class are also dealing with, and I think that when we see things like this, you can either look at it and talk about it, or you can make changes happen. I think that me joining the school board, I’m coming in with that authentic, real, honest opinion and understanding of what’s going on in our school district and the changes that has to happen and ways to make those changes happen.”
